Blacksburg Ballet is a nonprofit dance company dedicated to bringing the joy, discipline, and artistry of ballet to the New River Valley. Founded in the early 2000s, our mission is to make high-quality dance education and performances accessible to audiences of all ages while fostering a deep appreciation for the traditions of ballet.
Our annual production of The Nutcracker has become a cherished holiday tradition in the community, performed at venues including Burruss Hall (Virginia Tech), Bondurant Auditorium (Radford University), and most recently, the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech. In 2025, we are expanding our Nutcracker field trip performances from two shows to four, offering shorter, lower-cost presentations designed for preschools, homeschool networks, daycare centers, senior living communities, adult care facilities, and college classes. These performances allow children and adults alike to experience the magic of ballet while connecting with local culture and community.
Blacksburg Ballet partners closely with the New River Valley Chamber of Commerce and local small businesses, creating unique opportunities for community engagement, including special events, spotlight performances, and collaborations that highlight local talent. Our dancers also bring ballet directly to the community through performances at local venues, schools, and educational facilities, making dance accessible to audiences who might not otherwise have the chance to experience it.
Committed to cultural authenticity, our productions honor global dance traditions, featuring performances inspired by Spain, China, Russia, France, the Arabian Peninsula, and more. Through our outreach and partnerships, Blacksburg Ballet preserves the rich traditions of ballet while inspiring the next generation of dancers and audiences.
