Looking for a festive, meaningful way to kick off the holidays? The YMCA in Blacksburg is hosting a warm and welcoming seasonal celebration that blends family fun with the spirit of giving. From meeting Santa to empowering kids to pick out gifts all on their own, this event is built with families in mind—and it’s also a great opportunity to volunteer.
🎅 Meet Santa in the Gallery
Capture the magic! Bring your camera and take your own photos with Santa and his cheerful elves. This relaxed, family-friendly setting is perfect for all ages and makes for a stress-free Santa visit.
🎁 Kids-Only Holiday Shopping Village
One of the most heartwarming parts of the day! Children up to age 12 can shop on their own—while remaining in full view of their parents—as YMCA elves guide them through selecting and wrapping thoughtful gifts for loved ones.
What Families Should Know:
- Each child may choose 6–8 items for 6–8 family members, ensuring plenty of gifts for everyone.
- Gift items are very affordable, priced between $0.20 and $0.50 each.
- Parents may accompany their children at any time.
- Comfortable seating along the wall allows parents to relax in the same room while kids shop.
- Children are never taken out of sight during the event.
- After selections are complete, a small total fee is paid at the YMCA Thrift Shop.
- No registration required—just follow the signs when you arrive.
- This event is especially welcoming to families on a budget, offering an affordable and empowering way for kids to experience the joy of giving.
And to make every gift extra special, the Elves at Sustainable Blacksburg will be providing environmentally friendly gift wrapping!
