The New River Valley Home Builders Association (NRVHBA) is gearing up for a unique community event that blends skill-building, mentorship, and giving back. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Build Her Dreams Bed Build will take place at New River Valley Building Supply in Christiansburg.
The event, held in partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, invites girls ages 10–17 to roll up their sleeves, learn to use real tools, and work alongside women in the construction industry to build beds for children in need. Each participant will also take home a swag bag and a deeper appreciation for teamwork, service, and the possibilities that careers in the building trades can offer.
To make participation flexible, the day is divided into two shifts:
- Morning Shift: 7:30–11:00 a.m.
- Late Morning/Early Afternoon Shift: 10:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Families may register girls for either time slot—or for the full day if they’d like to maximize the experience.

The Build Her Dreams Bed Build is part of the celebration of National Professional Women in Building Week and National Workforce Development Month, highlighting the importance of encouraging young women to explore construction and skilled trades as viable, rewarding career paths.
Families, industry volunteers, and local businesses are invited to support the event—whether by registering a youth participant, lending a hand on build day, or sponsoring a bed for $250. Sponsorships and contributions toward supplies, swag, and refreshments are also welcome.
“This event is about more than building beds—it’s about building confidence, skills, and community,” said NRVHBA organizers.
